Intro:

Welcome to the Legend of the Innkeeper.  I’m Vastidious, I’m Ariannwyn and I’m Espo.  We’re glad you could join us for our 51st episode.

This week we are talking about… win conditions

Introduce DragonRider and her stream

Updates:

What did you do this week?

Kraska and ZeroRange articles

Top 3 of the week – Pick your favorite: Nefarian or Ragnaros! (It’s not a top 3 but we are allowed to cheat.  We are the hosts 😛 )

Vastidious – Nefarian however, I feel sad for Ragnaros

Ariannwyn – Rag

Espo –  Nef! I got 16 wins and 2 on Rag.

Dragonrider – Rag, only because I got him more often and only got to play as Nefarian once! But I do think Nefarian was better.

News

2. Tavern Brawl went live

Tavern Brawl mode went live on Wednesday and has received many accolades and negative reactions. It goes live each week on Wednesday (Thursday in Asia) and ends the following Monday.

  • FREE ADMISSION
  • Weekly event with a custom deck building rule for that mode. One week you might build a deck another be given a premade deck.
  • Unlocks after leveling any hero to 20.
  • Fight as many times as you like during that week. Total wins for that brawl will be shown on the Brawl screen.
  • You can only have one deck for each brawl but you can edit the deck if that week permits it. The deck has it’s own slot in the Brawl UI, like Arena
  • It will not allow you or require you to use more than 2 copies of a card or 1 legendary from your collection.
  • Winning your first Brawl each week during the launch event will reward you with a FREE Classic Pack (source: https://twitter.com/CM_Zeriyah/status/608691501879668736 / https://twitter.com/CM_Zeriyah/status/608673655116005376)
  • Daily quests can be completed in Brawls.
  • And you can get 10 gold for every 3 wins when winning Brawls.
  • Can play against random players OR someone on your friends list.

First week was a battle between Ragnaros and Nefarian. Many felt it was imbalanced and Nefarian was the more powerful hero. (Cards for this battle can be seen here: http://www.hearthhead.com/news=247976/tavern-brawl-showdown-at-blackrock-mountain)

Getting Better

Question:

I’ve heard a lot about deck types such as mid range, ramp, zoo, hand lock, aggro etc. Could you explain to a new player what these mean and if these deck types work well or poorly against each other?

Aggro, Tempo, Combo, Midrange, ramp and Control. These are the major decktypes. there are more (sub)types. But these are the most common and almost every deck can be put in one of these catagories.

————————————————————————————————————————–

First off, One of the more common deck types The control deck.

———————————————————————————————

The second deck type is a variant on the control deck, The ramp deck

———————————————————————————————

The third type is the of deck is the midrange decks.

———————————————————————————————

The fourth deck to discuss is The combo deck.

———————————————————————————————

Finally, there are 2 quicker decks, the first one is The tempo deck.

———————————————————————————————

The final deck to discuss is The aggro deck.

Emails: Hello and Question – Brindy

Hello LOTIPodcast crew, I wanted to say hello and let you know what a great podcast you are putting out, it’s always good to listen to the show and hear to the great chat and to catch up on the latest Hearthstone news and tips and advice. As a new player only in my second season I had a question which I hope you could help with? I’ve heard a lot about deck types such as mid range, ramp, zoo, hand lock, aggro etc. Could you explain to a new player what these mean and if these deck types work well or poorly against each other?

Thanks for your help, keep up the great podcast and good luck with getting the funding for Ariannwyn’s eye surgery.

Best regards.

@LotiPodcast What special rules would you like to see in a Tavern Brawl?

Anybody tried the mech shaman with Fel reaver? It’s pretty crazy, I’m winning games I have no right winning. It’s amazing how people can get creative with even alleged bad cards(Fel reaver). It’s pretty good.  (He also opened a Mogor the Ogre this week and is planning a Rogue utilizing Mogor)
